As a working professional who travels, you need to be able to accurately discern between a good hotel and below average one. While your goal may not be a 5 star hotel, you will need to find a hotel that makes you comfortable but yet meets your expectations. Here is a list of things your hotel should have at the very minimum.
Leather or plastic coasters serve the same purpose. You will find the leather coasters in the more upscale hotels. It is always nice to set down a glass of wine or champagne on them.
- Coffee Machine
So many people are coffee drinkers. Isn’t is nice to have a coffee machine at your hotel when you have to awake in the wee hours of the morning? Obviously if you do not have coffee in your room, you won’t it easily accessible in the lobby.
- Trash Can
A trash can whether a small or larger can needs to be present both in your room and throughout the hotel. Small waste receptacles can be by your bed for your convenience but a more larger 13 gallon trash can should be located in the hallways and throughout the hotel.
- Ice Bucket
An ice bucket is also a nice addition and my opinion a necessity. If you want to chill cold drinks or even a bottle of whine, you will need an ice bucket. A large ice bucket is preferrable as well if you may have guest in the hotel.
So, this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Most rooms come standard with a flat screen tv and cable. Obviously, some of us like to watch tv more than others. Some upscale hotel rooms come equipped with a flat screen tv in the bathroom so that you can enjoy watching a movie in the bath tub.
The next time you are traveling, try and look for these essentials before you choose your final hotel stay. After all, you want to get what you paid for and then some.
